Income Tax Return Filing in Karachi & Pakistan
We prepare and file annual income tax returns on FBR IRIS for salaried individuals, business owners, AOPs, companies and overseas Pakistanis, and help you stay on the Active Taxpayer List.
Overview
Filing your income tax return correctly is about more than meeting a deadline. The return is the record FBR uses to see your income, your tax and, for many taxpayers, your assets and expenses. Mistakes in it can lead to notices, delayed refunds or removal from the Active Taxpayer List (ATL).
We prepare and file returns on FBR’s IRIS portal for salaried individuals, business owners, AOPs, companies and overseas Pakistanis. Before we file, we check that your income, deductions, tax credits, withholding tax certificates and wealth statement agree with each other, so that the return can be explained if FBR asks questions later.
If you have never filed, or have missed earlier years, we can review your position and advise on how to bring your record up to date.

Why professional help makes a difference
A return that agrees with your wealth statement
FBR compares your income, expenses and assets year on year. We reconcile them before filing so that the figures tell one consistent story.
Correct use of withholding tax and credits
Tax already deducted at source, tax credits and deductions can reduce what you pay, but only if they are claimed correctly and supported by certificates.
Protection of your ATL status
Staying on the Active Taxpayer List keeps withholding tax at lower rates on many transactions. Timely, correct filing is how you stay on it.
Records you can rely on later
We keep your working papers organised, so that you or any adviser can find the basis of every figure in a later year.

The exact list depends on your case. We will confirm it after a short discussion.
Common mistakes we help you avoid
- Leaving out a source of income such as rent, profit on debt, commission or foreign income.
- Claiming tax withheld at source without matching certificates or statements.
- Filing a wealth statement that does not reconcile with the income and expenses in the return.
- Assuming a return is not needed because little or no tax is payable, without checking whether the law requires you to file.
- Sharing your IRIS login details with people you do not know, or using a login you do not control.
Frequently asked questions
Who needs to file an income tax return in Pakistan?
Section 114 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 sets out who must file. In general it covers companies, AOPs and individuals whose taxable income is above the exemption limit, and it also names other categories of persons who must file. Because the criteria are detailed, we review your situation and confirm whether you are required to file.
What happens if I do not file my return before the deadline?
A late or missing return can mean removal from the Active Taxpayer List and higher withholding tax on many transactions until your status is restored. It can also lead to notices and penalties. If you have missed a deadline, speak to us early. The sooner it is dealt with, the easier it is to put right.
Do I need to file if I earn only a salary?
Salaried persons usually have tax deducted by their employer, but a return may still be required, for example when you have other income or fall into a category the law names. We check this for you before deciding.
What documents do I need to file my return?
Usually your CNIC, salary and tax deduction certificates, bank statements, details of investments, property and vehicles, business records if you have business income, and details of any foreign income or assets. We give you a checklist after a short discussion.
How long does it take to prepare a return?
A straightforward return can be prepared quickly once we have your documents. Returns with business income, several properties or foreign assets take longer because each item has to be reconciled. We tell you the expected time after reviewing your documents.
Can you file returns for years I missed?
Yes, we can advise on filing for earlier years. The right approach depends on the years involved and your records, so we review them first and explain the options.
What is the Active Taxpayer List and why does it matter?
The ATL is FBR’s list of taxpayers who have filed their returns. Persons on the list pay lower withholding tax on many transactions such as bank withdrawals, vehicle registration and property transfers. See our page on the Active Taxpayer List for how to check your status.
I live abroad. Can you file my return?
Yes. We work with overseas Pakistanis remotely by WhatsApp, email and video call. See our page for overseas Pakistanis for what is involved.
