Active Taxpayer List (ATL): Check Your Status and Restore It
Persons who are not on FBR’s Active Taxpayer List face higher withholding tax rates on many transactions. Here is how to check your status and what to do if you are not on the list.
Why ATL status matters
Taxpayers who are not on the ATL are charged higher withholding tax on banking transactions, cash withdrawals, vehicle purchases, property transfers and securities transactions. Being on the ATL keeps these rates at the lower filer rates.
How to check your status
- OnlineUse the official FBR IRIS ATL verification page at iris.fbr.gov.pk.
- By SMSType ATL, a space and your 13-digit CNIC, and send it to 9966.
Restoring your ATL status
Taxpayers who have been removed from the list can be restored by filing the outstanding return and paying the surcharge under Section 182A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. The surcharge payable is:
| Taxpayer | Surcharge |
|---|---|
| Individual | Rs. 25,000 |
| Association of Persons (AOP) | Rs. 50,000 |
| Company | Rs. 100,000 |
These amounts are set by law and can change. We confirm the current figure with you before you pay.
